Tenderness is often overlooked yet it is profound.
I believe with my whole heart that tenderness is something we all need now—so much so that I dedicated a TEDx talk to the subject.
Unlocking the Secret Powers of Tenderness, is intended to spark a conversation about tenderness and its potential power to heal a sense of separation. Tenderness can help us find our way back home to each other and our shared humanity.
Early last year, something ignited in me. It was as if the universe itself, be it spirit, source, or divinity—spoke to me in a way that stirred my entire being. It led me on a profound journey to explore the essence of tenderness.
Why it holds such significance, and how we can nurture it. Though I've done a lot of public speaking. I knew this message needed a bigger platform. The opportunity arrived and my TEDx talk experience unfolded. It is now public and I am so excited to offer a glimpse into some of the discoveries I've made on the power and impact of tenderness.
Exactly three days before I gave my TEDx on Tenderness I had the chance to ask Thupten Jinpa, PhD, the Founder and Chairman of Compassion Institute and principal English translator to H.H. the Dalai Lama, about the relationship between tenderness and compassion. He was surprised by my question and shared that tenderness is the “tonal quality” essential in compassion meditation. His reflection reinforced a key point in my talk–that tenderness can be an embodied state that sparks and deepens compassion.
If my talk resonates with you, I encourage you to share it with soul friends, colleagues, family, or loved ones - anyone you feel would find it compelling.
I created a free tenderness guide (details below) so we can have a deeper exploration of what tenderness means, both individually and collectively.
As we move through January and the rest of 2024, may your heart be illuminated with profound tenderness.
When you take a short tenderness survey.
There is not much research yet about tenderness. To change that, I am collaborating with a friend and colleague - an emotion scientist - to develop a conceptual model of tenderness. It is exciting, but in order to do that we need your input: Could you take a few minutes to complete this survey on tenderness? It would mean so much!
This survey will provide preliminary data to inform our next steps. As a thank you, you will receive a FREE Tenderness Guide which includes:
