Twenty years ago, I shared with a renowned astrologer about my deep longing to devote my life to spirituality within the confines of an ashram or monastery. He responded with a hearty laugh, staring directly into my eyes, and said, "You must embrace your destiny, my friend. Even if you sought solace in a cave, there'd be a celebration inside that cave. Your cosmic blueprint paints you as a public figure. How you navigate that role is your choice, but resisting the path the universe has chosen for you will only invite more suffering."
At the age of 23, those words hit me hard. But over the years, I've come to understand that when you find yourself in the public eye or assume a leadership role, you must embrace the fact that people will always have something to say about you—both complimentary and critical.
